The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Kaelyn B., Staff Writer

Have you seen the movie The Hobbit? If not I highly recommend this movie for fantasy, action, and Lord of the Rings lovers. Even if none of those things match you, see it. Why, because it has amazing graphics and totally makes some understanding of Bilbo Baggins and his life, well if you haven’t read the book. Want more details? Read on.

First of all, the details from the book are somehow magically weaved into the scene by the director. Plus, they got the plot head on from the book for you sort of picky movie people. I was blown away with the action scenes. As you watch the movie the characters’ personalities really can be seen through out there actions and words. Speaking of characters, Gandalf is still as wise and whimsical as ever, Bilbo is as timid yet adventurous as always. As for the other main characters you might have not heard of them. Some whimsical, others serious and many in between.

Peter Jackson did an astounding job and, even my dad the “Lord of the Rings expert” can’t wait for part two and three. I do not know what you will think about it but, for first time watchers of the Lord of the Rings. I think this one will get you hooked for a while. I think you should take my word for it, seriously go see it.

Maximum Ride

Arias A., Staff Writer

I just finished the first book in the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson and I loved it a lot. The books are about six children that have special abilities.  They don’t even know about some of these abilities yet. They have a talent that they can fly and many more you’ll have to read about in the book. They were in an evil place they call the School. It was a place where scientists did evil things, like injecting the children with different serums and stuff.

Meanwhile the children are trying to find their parents and trying to find out if they were given up, taken away, or just born to be a test subject. While they’re trying to find their parents,  suspense builds as wolf-like creatures try to kill them and take them back to the School.

Personally I really liked the first book in the series, and I think you will also. It made me want to read more and more. Throughout the books I never even once could think of what was going to happen next, it definitely kept me on my toes on what was going to happen.

There are eight books total in the series.  The books are divided into two sets: The Fugitives (books 1–3) and The Protectors (books 4–8).  Start the series today at our school library, the public library, or digitally.  You won’t regret it!

Just dance has released a new game. Just dance 4 has new songs such as What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, Moves like Jagger by Maroon 5, and lots, lots more.

You can get this for the Wii, PlayStation 3, The Xbox 360, and the Wii U. There are 50 songs. Everyone has “Dance Quests” and you can get Mojo points. You can battle different songs such as Call Me Maybe vs. Beauty and the Beat.
